Okinawa 2015 – Day 3 and 4

Day 3: Thursday, 09th of April:

We spend the morning in Itoman with Yamashiro Sensei this time focussing on Sai and Tunkwa. Now we can prove that we still remember the New Year’s seminar as we repeat the three Katas learned there: Yamakatsu No Tunkwa, Kubokurashiki No Tunkwa and Sai San.
Later, we train in the Budokan again using the opportunity to repeat Tokumine No Kun which we had just barely memorized the day before.
In the evening, the whole group gathers in the Dojo Bar near Shureido for some refreshing drinks.

Culinary Highlight of the Day: Goya Juice, extreme taste and colour, no one else liked it though some tried…

Day 4: Friday, 10th of April:

We repeat Wednesday’s schedule: Budokan in the morning, Kobudo with Yamashiro Sensei in the evening. Having memorized the order of techniques now, we go into the details of Tokumine No Kun practicing on shorter sequences.
Yamashiro Sensei has prepared a surprise for us: after half of the training time we are joined by three of his students who present different Katas and Kumites to us. We very much enjoy watching the Katas being presented by people obviously focussing a lot on presentation in their training, emphasizing Kata rythm and dynamic much more than we usually do.

Culinary Highlight of the Day: Matcha Flavoured Chocolate, Popcorn and Belgian Waffle – actually I was in a matcha product shopping frenzy for the whole stay…
