This year Shihan Dirk Mazet (Germany) is teaching “Tanto – The way of the knife in Chi Ryu Aiki-Jitsu”

What do we want to teach our students when we use the tanto in training? This will be an interactive workshop on the way of the knife in Chi Ryu. We will work together on techniques with and defenses against the tanto as well as the motivation on why we work with the knife in Chi Ryu. Based on the techniques we know, we will have a look at realistic aspects of today and compare them to the traditional training. Your input during the seminar is essential to reach the goal. We will put all our experience together to create a clear understanding of what our students can learn from the tanto. Best case will be to create a new tanto kata which conserves our results of the workshop.
