Visit to the local primary school in Hechtel (Belgium)

For the second time I was invited by the PE teacher and the head of the local primary school “De Zandkorrel” in Hechtel to teach Chi Ryu Aiki-Jitsu and Okinawa Kobudo. About 250 kids enjoyed a very special PE class and looking at the pictures below it seems they had a lot of fun. During the classes the children experienced that fighting in a secured surrounding according to special rules has nothing to do with brutality but with building up self esteem. Not only the techniques of Chi Ryu Aiki-Jitsu and Okinawa Kobudo were practiced but anti-bulliying behavior has been emphasized as well.

The children made up experiences with Kumi Kata, Ukemi and Tsuki’s as well as the handling of Tinbei according to Yamashiro Kenichi Sensei’s teaching. It was a wonderful time with the children and it is so beautiful to see their happy faces when attempting their first steps into into the world of martial arts. They were so curious to learn about Okinawan Culture we have decided to bring them a visit with Yamashiro Sensei and his students Katsuki San and Hitomi San in May 2016.
